Doctor Music Academy established in Surrey in 2010, originally under the name Emma Shi Piano Studio.

Dr. Emma Shi, a concert pianist, currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Doctor Music Academy, Music Minister of Cloverdale United Church, President of the International Piano Professionals Association Canadian division, a senior certified teacher in the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), and one of the first and authorized Smart Start certified instructors.

She achieved remarkable success in various piano competitions, notably winning first place in the 2011 Canadian Kiwanis National Finals in the Romantic and Classical Sonata categories, as well as receiving the Best Concert Award. In 2010, she secured first place in the Global Chinese Youth Musicians Instrumental Performance Competition and represented Chinese-Canadian musicians in a reception with national leaders in Beijing.

Dr. Shi boasts an extensive repertoire, with particular expertise in contemporary compositions. She has premiered numerous commissioned works by North American composers.

On the international stage, she has been invited to perform solo performances, academic lectures, and masterclasses in Canada, the United States, Australia, Japan, China, and other countries and regions. Her research and performance work have garnered significant attention in the international music community.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she recorded multiple piano instructional videos and held online concerts for a global audience, organizing charity concerts to raise funds for the local community. In 2022, she was invited by UNESCO to host a live solo concert broadcasted online by Sierra Leone National Television in West Africa.

In the realm of education, she has established the Doctor Music Academy for over a decade, continuously refining a unique educational system. Graduates from her academy have gone on to enroll in top Canadian universities including the University of Toronto, McGill University, the University of British Columbia, Western University, Queen’s University, and the University of Victoria, etc.  as well as renowned institutions like Parsons School of Design and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In recent years. As the number of her students has grown, more exceptional students have gained recognition in major international competitions and local events, consistently achieving high honours. Her students have consistently achieved First Class Honour results in Royal Conservatory of Music examinations, with a 100% pass rate and 90% earning First Class Honour with distinction. Moreover, many applicants to music-related universities have received outstanding scores and generous scholarships. Every one of Dr. Shi’s students finds joy and a deep passion for music and piano in their studies.

Nowadays, Doctor Music Academy continues to explore and expand in the field of piano education, encompassing three main areas:

No.1 the Traditional Program focused on the RCM curriculum, targeting high scores from Grade 8 to Performance levels (ARCT) and preparation for international competitions.

No.2 North American music university applications, dual major applications, educational consultants, and audition preparation.

No.3 Instructors training and institutional partnerships for the Smart Start Early Childhood Music Program tailored to children aged 0-6. Our goal is to help more institutions and teachers enter the music education market and address the gaps in the music education industry for children under 6 years old.

博乐学院于2010年在素里成立，前身是Emma Shi Piano Studio。

创始人施睿譞博士，青年钢琴家、现任博乐学院艺术总监、国际钢琴专业协会加拿大分会会长，Cloverdale联合教会音乐总监，加拿大皇家音乐学院考级专家、首批Smart Start认证教师。

曾获 2011 年加拿大 Kiwanis 全国总决赛钢琴比赛专业组浪漫派作品第一名、古典奏鸣曲第一名，及最佳音乐会奖。2010年获全球华裔青年音乐家器乐演奏赛第一名，并代表温哥华华裔音乐家在北京受到国家领导人的接见。

她擅长的曲目十分广泛。特别是近现代作品的演绎，已首演多部北美作曲家的委约作品。

在国际上，她先后应邀在加拿大、美国、澳大利亚、日本、中国等多个国家和地区成功举办个人音乐会、学术讲座和大师班，她的作品研究与演奏颇受国际乐坛的瞩目。

在疫情期间，她录制了多部钢琴教学视频，同时面向全球观众举办在线音乐会，组织慈善音乐会为当地社区募资筹款。2022年受联合国教科文组织的邀请，在西非塞拉利昂国家电视台举办在线直播独奏音乐会。 

在教学方面，她创立博乐学院至今十余年，通过在教学上不断研磨，形成了独特系统的教育体系。第一批师从Emma老师的学员，已相继进入加拿大顶尖大学，如多伦大大学，麦吉尔大学，英属哥伦比亚大学，西安大略大学，女王大学，维多利亚大学等、美国帕森斯艺术学院、UCLA加州大学洛杉矶分校等世界顶尖名校进行音乐专业的深造。近几年，随着学员的不断增加，更多的优秀学员在各大国际比赛和当地赛事中崭露头角，屡获殊荣：他们在皇家音乐学院的考级中，均获一等荣誉和一等特优；在RCM各级别的考试中更是取得了骄人的成绩：100%通过率，90%的学员拿到一等特优的傲人成绩。同时不断有音乐类大学申请者拿到大满贯的好成绩加超高奖学金。Emma老师的学生每个人都在音乐学习中找到乐趣，极其热爱音乐、热爱钢琴！

如今，博乐学院持续在钢琴教学中不断探索，并延伸出三大板块:

1. RCM课程体系，主攻8级至演奏级的高分成绩通过、国际比赛备赛
2. 北美音乐类大学申请、双专业申请、教育规划、audition准备
3. 以及针对0-6岁儿童量身定制的Smart Start 音乐教育项目的师资培养和机构合作。我们的目标是帮助更多机构和老师拓宽音乐教育市场，填补6岁以下音乐教育行业的空缺。
